Compact Design of Modified Pentagon Shaped Monopole Antenna for UWB Applications

Abstract—In this work detailed analysis of modified pentagon shaped planar antenna is presented for Ultra Wide Bandwidth applications. The proposed antenna is designed on FR-4 substrate and has compact size of 12×22×1.6 mm3. It achieves 8.73 GHz (3.8 GHz to 12.53 GHz) impedance bandwidth, in the UWB range. The design has uniform gain and stable radiation pattern in the operating bandwidth.
