Abstract—A symmetric square slotted microstrip antenna with improved bandwidth is presented in this paper. Four symmetrical slots are provided on the patch for improving the impedance bandwidth of the microstrip patch antenna. The proposed antenna is resonating in the frequency range of (1.5–12.5) GHz with the center frequency of 4.2 GHz. An impedance bandwidth of 157.1% is obtained from the proposed antenna with return loss below -45dB and VSWR below 1.02. Coaxial feeding is used to excite the antenna. HFSS software is used to analyze the results of proposed antenna.
