Abstract—In this paper the technique of convolution and its need in signal processing is discussed. The comparison of three basic convolution techniques like linear, circular convolution and Discrete Fourier Transform for general digital signal processing is analyzed. Their performance has been compared in terms of computational complexity, number of operations and number of outputs. A relationship has been drawn between the three techniques using MATLAB simulation and mathematical methods.
